‘Thumb Drive Utils’

Although I run them from a CD, just in case a virus infects the thumb drive!

• Firefox Portable – sometimes their browsers are screwed up.
• Chrome Portable – might replace firefox with this (would prefer Chromium of course)
• Notepad++ Portable – a nice editor is useful.
• 7-Zip Portable – very good unzip app.
• ClamWin Portable – Anti-Virus.
• Eraser Portable – Clear out extra space.
• InfraRecorder Portable – Because XP sucks for burning disks.
• CCleaner – to remove the fluff / clear temp files etc.
• App Remover – help remove annoying security apps.
• Kill Process Portable – Kills running apps and stops them restarting.
• McAfee Rootkit hunter – Looks for Rootkits
• SysInternals Suite – All the useful SysInternals I run (and more).
• Soft Key Revealer – Pulls out product keys from the registry.
• VLC Portable – Plays almost every media file (sound, videos etc)
• Eraser Portable – Wipe files securely.
• Lightscreen Portable – Take screenshots easily.
• Q-Dir – 4 paned file manager
• CWShredder – remove some browser hijackers.
• AllSnap snaps windows to edge of screen / other windows (via), just like Linux does.  Because I miss it!
• Process Tamer stops programs grabbing 100% processor power.

Also on the CD I have a few install programs:

• Revo Uninstaller – uninstalls programs (including tidying up registry) and more.
• Team Viewer – still playing around with it, but it’s an easy remove control software.
• Secunia PSI – to find how insecure your windows machine is (and how to fix it).
• Ad-Aware – anti-adware / spyware program.
• Spybot Search and Desroy – another anti-adware / spyware program.
• Spyware Terminator – yet another anti-adware / spyware program
• Clam AV – free anti-virus.
• Malware Bytes – anti-spyware program.

Other useful little utilities:

• PC Wizard 2009 – tells you about your computer.
